Bindrune for Protection of Magical Work

November 30, 2016 | Filed Under Bindrunes | Comments Off on Bindrune for Protection of Magical Work

If you are new to working with bindrunes, I suggest you read the introductory bindrune post here, then return to this post to read about this specific bindrune. Remember that working with bindrunes, as with working with any kind of magic, does not carry guaranteed results, and may produce results quite different from what you expect.

This week’s bindrune is designed to create protected space in which to do magical work, balancing chance and choice.

Bindrune of Perthro, Ior, Os

Bindrune of Perthro, Ior, Os

Perthro (left tile, brown in bindrune): The dice cup turned on its side at the moment of the throw, Perthro represents the element of chance. You choose to take the chance, and after that, well, it’s up to chance—which is simultaneously exciting (depending on how well you deal with randomness) and stressful (depending on how well you deal with things being beyond your control).

Ior (middle tile, green in bindrune): Ior is the rune of Jormundgand the World Serpent, the boundary which divides Midgard from all the other realms. It’s a protective boundary; what lies within it cannot be touched by what lies outside of it, but can reach beyond the border to spread its own influence.

Os (right tile, blue in bindrune): The God Voice speaks, giving advice, suggestions, and/or warnings. Even though the words come from the Gods, you still have a choice about acting on them. Think carefully before deciding.

The bindrune on the left was done in colored pencil. The one on the right was done with fine point calligraphy markers. They are shown in two different media to give an idea of how the same bindrune looks different depending on how it is created.

You could put a drop of cinnamon or other highly aromatic oil to create a scent boundary and also charge the bindrune, or a drop of your favorite oil on it to reinforce the energy with your personal scent. You can also use a magical oil, such as a hoodoo oil or other type of specially prepared oil.

When you’re doing a significant working, creating a secure space in which to do your magic is vital. Of course, this would also apply when you want to do a working undetected by those around you—but of course you would do that only for the best of reasons, and not from any nefarious motives.

Use this bindrune—and all bindrunes—entirely at your own risk.

Daily Poem: Still ~ Aila Meriluoto

Still
~ Aila Meriluoto
Translated from Finnish by Jaakko A. Ahokas

In the fall, I believe again in poetry
if nothing else it is
a movement of the mind.
Summers ball together
into sticky lumps,
spring evenings are glass beads from one mould
for standard-size youth,
winter a smooth heaviness, not even cold.
But the mind trembles
here, on the brink
the mind trembles
there is life, after all,
there is life, still
unbelief is left.

The Giants' Tarot, Ravenk Kaldera

The Giants’ Tarot, Ravenk Kaldera

Draw for November 29, 2016:
Active Influence: Himinglava/Ten of Cups
Rune: Sowelu/Sun
Hidden Influence: Jarnsaxa/Queen of Swords

Things are continuing to improve, even if it’s hard to tell. Sowelu brings in the light of the sun, illuminating, healing, and encouraging growth of all kinds. Jarnsaxa tells you it’s time to get to work and treat your responsibilities seriously—take advantage of the Sowelu energies, and the opportunities available to use them, even if you have to create those opportunities yourself.

Himinglava reminds you that, no matter how much work is before you, or how hard you have to work, each day still has its joys and pleasures, and taking time to savor those is just as important as working. You must refresh yourself to continue working—everyone needs a break, everyone needs a treat, everyone needs a laugh. Take joy where you can, and you will find the work less onerous.

The Giants' Tarot, Raven Kaldera

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera

Draw for November 28, 2016:
Active Influence: Nott/The Star
Rune: Ear/The Grave (reversed)
Hidden Influence: Svipdag/Knight of Cups

The reversed Ear rune is quite encouraging, suggesting the conclusion of the dark passage, and a new beginning. Nott brings hope and inspiration, and Svipdag brings in the strength of love, dreams, and deep desires. Things have been complicated, rough, and bleak. The tide begins to turn today. Take heart and know that the difficult things will begin to ease, and good things will begin to grow.
