Ta-da! At last, I have finished embroidering the cloth for my Sigyn altar!

It’s actually a dresser scarf pattern that I bought at Woolworth’s a looooong time ago, but it fits perfectly on Her altar:

The Giants' Tarot, Raven Kaldera

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera

Draw for February 1, 2017
Active Influence: Loki/The Magician
Rune: Uruz/Strength (reversed)
Hidden Influence: Logi/Ace of Wands

Energies are running high today, although you may feel fatigued and find that it’s challenging to manage them. You have so much creative energy and inspiration coming at you (Loki and Logi are both fire Gods) that you want to do everything. At the same time, you may be run down physically from everything you’ve been dealing with, so instead of feeling inspired, you feel enervated.

You may also be dealing with people who are being dishonest with you, or you may find that circumstances pushing you to engage in some Trickster-like behavior. Remember that what goes around, comes around, so be really clear with yourself about your motives if you take that route today.

Stop, breathe, and reconnect with yourself. Run with that creative impulse, take the inspirations and run with them, see what you can make with them. Just be sure to watch your activity so that you don’t end up completely wrung out tomorrow. Eat properly, stay hydrated, and get the sleep you need.

Draw for January 31, 2017
Active Influence: Fenris/The Devil
Rune: Perthro/Chance
Hidden Influence: Loki, Angrboda & Sigyn/The Lovers

That which has been hiding in the darkness comes into the light. And there’s rather a lot of it. And you must deal with it.

Stop acting from preconceived notions. You must see things as they really are in order to deal with them as they really are. I once did a round of shadow work under the guidance of an extremely wise woman who helped me understand that shadows are always larger than the actual monsters. When you turn on the light to fill the room, you see that the giant monster shadow on the wall comes from a 12″ tall monster toy. It’s much easier to deal with the toy than the shadow.

Take a chance, shine the light, see what you’re really up against. It may be Gorjira himself, or it may be a Gojira doll. But until you know what you’re actually dealing with, you won’t be able to make progress.

The Lovers encourages you to find new approaches, to think “both/and” rather than “either/or”. You can’t have everything (where would you put it?), but you can have some of A and some of B, which together is better than all of either.

Perthro tells you shake the dice cup, and take a chance. You don’t know what will happen if you take action, but honestly, you don’t know what will happen if you don’t take action, either. Change is the only constant, so make some decisions and make some effort on your own behalf.

Hidden Influence: The Volva/Four of Swords

Whatever you used to do isn’t working any more. You need to find a new approach to the same old problems. You may find yourself pushed in directions that make you uncomfortable, but you have to be honest with yourself about the situation. The rules have changed in unfavorable and unfair ways, and you have to find a way around them.

Daily Poem: The Lightning ~ Judah Al-Harizi

The Lightning
~ Judah Al-Harizi
Translated from the Hebrew by T. Carmi

And the lightning laughs at the clouds,
like a warrior who runs without growing weary or faint.

Or like a night watchman who dozes off,
then opens one eye for an instant, and shuts it.
