Long Time Coming
~ Daphne Marlatt

Sea hood , snail, born with a caul on his head,
tumbles in weedy medium of  snow. Semen falls as
dizziness,  sink back  to head    tail   snail  ob-
ects, weeds to catch at his shell like hair,
cilia he put his foot on now grabs hold.    eye
feeling thru rain

am not down.   water runs down
the windowpane i face.  disaffections.   might order
a new order as water waves its snail pace . . .

snared in a diver’s hold i come up for breath
around & over our heads the sound of moss fingers
our eaves.    melt.    snow purple at eyes’ level
swallows from view.      two.      in a cell.   i keep coming
up for breath, crackle of light fragments, genes,
help

‘as if there were anything but’

love orders another order of mosses, snows, in all
thus iridescent coal.

The Giants' Tarot, Raven Kaldera

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera

Draw for September 20, 2016:

Active Influence: Jormundgand/The World
Rune: Ear/Hela and the Grave (reversed)
Hidden Influence: Geirrod & Loki/Eight of Swords

Changes that have been slow to develop are now moving fast, and may catch you by surprise. Getting unstuck from a bad situation may be painful and risky (and require an unpleasant amount of clean up afterwards), but you must move on. The cycle is complete, and it is time to begin the next phase.

New Rune Workshop Series Starts in November

September 19, 2016 | Filed Under Classes, Workshops, Conferences, Tarot, Runes, Oracles | Comments Off on New Rune Workshop Series Starts in November

I’m starting a new workshop series—a monthly rune workshop from the comfort of your home. no shoes required!

Each month, we’ll look at one rune in detail—its name, its descriptions in the various Rune Poems, associations and interpretations both historical and modern, and ways of working with the rune’s energies to make your readings rich, deep, and meaningful.

In honor of the Turning of the Wheel, November’s workshop starts this series with the rune traditionally placed at the start of the rune rows—Fehu.

This online workshop is held the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM Pacific Time, and runs for 90 minutes. We use a Google Hangout for real-time video and audio during the workshop. The link for the workshop will be sent the Monday prior to the event.
See you in November!

Bindrune for Leaving It Up to the Gods

September 14, 2016 | Filed Under Bindrunes | Comments Off on Bindrune for Leaving It Up to the Gods

If you are new to working with bindrunes, I suggest you read the introductory bindrune post here, then return to this post to read about this specific bindrune.

You may find yourself in a situation in which you have done everything possible to deal with it, to make changes, to make one thing different. And yet, nothing has happened. You are exhausted, and nothing has changed.

This bindrune will help you step back and recoup your energies, while you let the Gods do Their part.

Leaving it Up to the Gods, Variation #2: Wan, Perthro, Gar, Dagaz

Leaving it Up to the Gods: Wan, Perthro, Gar, Dagaz.

Wan (far left tile, dark grey in drawing): Wan is Ginnungagap, the void from which comes all creation. This is amorphous, undifferentiated potential. It contains all possibilities, and no limits.

Gar: (second tile from right, dark blue in drawing): This rune is the unknown and unknowable. Associated with Odin and His spear, Gungnir, this is the larger forces at work that you are not aware of, things happening at such a high level that you will probably never be aware of.

Perthro (second tile from left, medium blue in drawing): The rune of the dice cup, Perthro brings in the element of chance. Perhaps it’s a phrase in a book or a song, or a person you meet at the laundromat, or some other random event that will bring about the shift you need. It’s chance—you can’t predict or control it. Perthro visually and energetically links the void of Wan with the divine influence of Gar, creating a direct path for the energies to move through to reach Dagaz.

Dagaz (far right tile, gold in drawing): The rune of transformation. The energies of Wan and Gar have worked through Perthro, and culminate in Dagaz. This is the change that will come, the opportunities that you must prepare for so that you are ready to act on them when they appear. What good is meeting a producer if you haven’t written that script? There may be nothing you can do today to meet a producer, but you can sit down and write so that the script is ready when you do meet.

The bindrune on the left was done in colored pencil. The one on the right was done with fine point calligraphy markers. They are shown in two different media to give an idea of how the same bindrune looks different depending on how it is created.

You could put a drop of lavender for calm and focus, or a drop of your favorite oil on it to reinforce the energy with your personal scent. You can also use a magical oil, such as a hoodoo oil or other type of specially prepared oil.

Tend to the daily business of life, and let the Gods do Their part. When it’s time for you to take action, you will know, because They are very clear about telling you. Until then, do your work, and the Work will come.

Use this bindrune—and all bindrunes—entirely at your own risk.

Daily Poem: Poppies in July ~ Sylvia Plath

Poppies In July
~ Sylvia Plath

Little poppies, little hell flames,
Do you do no harm?

You flicker. I cannot touch you.
I put my hands among the flames. Nothing burns

And it exhausts me to watch you
Flickering like that, wrinkly and clear red, like the skin of a mouth.

A mouth just bloodied.
Little bloody skirts!

There are fumes I cannot touch.
Where are your opiates, your nauseous capsules?

If I could bleed, or sleep!—
If my mouth could marry a hurt like that!

Or your liquors seep to me, in this glass capsule,
Dulling and stilling.

But colorless. Colorless.
