The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera

Draw for October 26, 2016:
Active Influence: Geirrod & Loki/Eight of Swords
Rune: Gar/The Unknown
Hidden Influence: Skadi/Justice

Today’s draw is not particularly comforting, but some days don’t hold much comfort. You may find yourself stuck in a situation in which the only way out is unpleasant, or downright awful. Do what you must to get free, and be prepared to do the necessary work to undo, heal, repair, or make amends for what you have done. The Universe will make sure you do, so it’s best to do it in your own way, and in your own time, instead of having it dropped on you out of the blue.

Bindrune to Heal Ancestral Energies

 | Filed Under Bindrunes | Comments Off on Bindrune to Heal Ancestral Energies

If you are new to working with bindrunes, I suggest you read the introductory bindrune post here, then return to this post to read about this specific bindrune.

Even the happiest of families has ancestral baggage of some kind to deal with. As we are coming up on Samhain, the night when the veils between the worlds are thinnest, we are more likely to sense our ancestors’ presence, perhaps even hear directly from them. Even if your forebears aren’t a chatty bunch, this bindrune can help you heal your family’s energies, bringing peace to those already gone, and making it easier for those on this side of the veil to live more joyfully and authentically.

Bindrune of Othala, Ul, Raido

Bindrune of Othala, Ul, Raido

Othala (left tile, gold in bindrune): Othala represents your inheritance from your ancestors. Not just the physical objects they may have left you, but also the intangibles: psychological patterns, habits of living, emotional energies, and, of course, hamingja. Some of what we have inherited is helpful and good, such as Aunt Mary’s favorite books, Uncle Phil’s antique desk, Grandmother’s recipes, Mom’s boundless energy. Some of it is not so good—Aunt Mary’s depression, Uncle Phil’s compulsive behaviors, Grandmother’s inability to deal with emotions, Mom’s perfectionism. Othala is all of these things, and Othala is also our process of recognizing these things, and choosing how we deal with them and the ancestors who bequeathed them.

Ul (center tile, green in bindrune): Ul is the turning point in the healing process. Associated with Waldh, German God of the forest, and His gifts of healing and tranquility, this rune brings those energies to you.

Raido (right tile, red in bindrune): Raido gives the full use of your renewed energies. When old wounds are healed, you no longer have to put energy into shielding them or healing them, and that energy is now available for you to move forward, healthier and happier.

You could put a drop of rose oil to bring in loving energies, or a drop of your favorite oil on it to reinforce the energy with your personal scent. You can also use a magical oil, such as a hoodoo oil or other type of specially prepared oil.

Even if your ancestors seem to have left you nothing helpful, this bindrune will help you make peace among the family, and bring peace to yourself.

Daily Poem: A Story ~ Jane Hirshfield

A Story
~ Jane Hirshfield

A woman tells me

the story of a small wild bird,

beautiful on her window sill, dead three days.

How her daughter came suddenly running,

“It’s moving, Mommy, he’s alive.”

And when she went, it was.

The emerald wing-feathers stirred, the throat

seemed to beat again with pulse.

Closer then, she saw how the true life lifted

under the wings. Turned her face

so her daughter would not see, though she would see.

Draw for October 25, 2016:
Active Influence: Gerda/Page of Coins
Rune: Os/The God Voice
Hidden Influence: Ymir/The Fool

New possibilities require careful tending to grow. Nurture them, nurture yourself. The Gods are speaking, and you need to hear Their message. Cut away non-essential activities and demands on your time; you need to pay attention to these subtle energies of change to make the most of them.

Daily Poem: The Dancer at Cruachan and Cro-Patrick ~ William Butler Yeats

The Dancer at Cruachan and Cro-Patrick
~ William Butler Yeats

I, proclaiming that there is

Among birds or beasts or men

One that is perfect or at peace.

Danced on Cruachan’s windy plain,

Upon Cro-patrick sang aloud;

All that could run or leap or swim

Whether in wood, water or cloud,

Acclaiming, proclaiming, declaiming Him.
