Eye Mask
~ Denise Levertov
In this dark I rest,
unready for the light which dawns
day after day,
eager to be shared.
Black silk, shelter me.
I need
more of the night before I open
eyes and heart
to illumination. I must still
grow in dark like a root
not ready, not ready at all.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Draw for March 17, 2017
Active Influence: Nine Maidens of the Mill/Nine of Coins
Rune: Teiwaz/Justice
Hidden Influence: Mimir/Hanged Man
Another day of showing up to do the work. Things are happening behind the scenes, things you can’t control or even influence. Yes, I’m getting a bit tired of this message, too, but it’s what’s going on right now. So, we keep going, keep doing, keep focused on doing what we can to reach our goals, even if it’s just a tiny step each day. Do what you can; there is plenty to keep you busy.
Do your part, act with integrity, and let the Universe pull the levers and turn the dials. You’ll find out soon enough what’s going to happen.

Cassandra
~ Louise Bogan
To me, one silly task is like another.
I bare the shambling tricks of lust and pride.
This flesh will never give a child its mother,—
Song, like a wing, tears through my breast, my side,
And madness chooses out my voice again,
Again. I am the chosen no hand saves:
The shrieking heaven lifted over men,
Not the dumb earth, wherein they set their graves.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Draw for March 16, 2017
Active Influence: Unn/Eight of Cups
Rune: Cweorth/Fire
Hidden Influence: Loki/The Magician
Unn is the Undine of Time, including personal history and ancestry, and can see both backwards and forwards along the web. She appears here with the suggestion that you take time today to withdraw and allow yourself to deal with your emotions and your soul. You may still feel battered from yesterday’s emotional storms, making today a good day for quiet time alone.
If there’s still something you need to let go, Cweorth is here for you—throw it on the funeral pyre and release the energy that’s been tied up in whatever has been holding you back. Once you’re able to let go, Cweorth is the torch lighting the way forward.
And then, there’s Loki as the Magician in the Hidden Influence position. Forces beyond your control are at work behind the scenes. Take care of yourself during this intermission, and put yourself back together, stronger than before, so you are ready when the next act of the play begins.

Wild Swans
~ Edna St. Vincent Millay
I looked in my heart while the wild swans went over.
And what did I see I had not seen before?
Only a question less or a question more;
Nothing to match the flight of wild birds flying.
Tiresome heart, forever living and dying,
House without air, I leave you and lock your door.
Wild swans, come over the town, come over
The town again, trailing your legs and crying!

1921 Milo Winter faerie tale lithograph for Hans Andersen’s “Wild Swans”
