Rain
~ Diana Der-Hovanessian
Rain undoes the stone
unfastens grass.
Nothing is permanently
attached to bone.
Neither epoxy
not promises last.
But I keep those inflections
you telephoned to wear
with your frown on rainy days.
There is another you
I have invented from your name
and cemented to my bones forever.
let rain say nothing stays.
The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Draw for April 15, 2017
Active Influence: Mjol/Eight of Wands
Rune: Kenaz/Torch (reversed)
Hidden Influence: Rym/Ten of Wands
Rym returns as the Hidden Influence for the third day in a row. Dude, give us all a break, will you? Kenaz reversed indicates you may be feeling tired of it all, or unsure of your next steps. Mjol brings a sense of time passing, of things rushing by, and that everything must be dealt with right now. That’s just a feeling; the truth is you have time to catch your breath and make a plan. You still have much to do today, but you do not have to buy into an artificial sense of urgency or importance about anything you are dealing with. Stay grounded in objective facts and let mental clarity guide you through the day.
Who Said It Was Simple

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Draw for April 14, 2017
Active Influence: Fenris/The Devil
Rune: Hagalaz/Hail
Hidden Influence: Rym/Ten of Wands
All that work you did yesterday? Good job! Now keep going. Rym returns with further obligations and requirements that must be met. Fenris, brother of Jormundgand (yesterday’s Active Influence) brings difficulties and restrictions—many of them perhaps self-created.
Interruptions and disruptions abound today, and yet you must complete your Work and your work. Have faith in yourself, have courage in your actions, and you will make it through.
When everything seems against you, you must be on your own side.
A Normal Life
~ Marjory Heath Wentworth
Whatever that is.
I don’t pretend to know.
Don’t think I haven’t
tried to fold the socks
in neat pairs and stacked
the chipped blue rimmed bowls
and matching plates
inside the cupboard.
For years I have fed
the black and white dog
who barks whenever
the doorbell rings.
I filled the calendar
with important dates,
snipped daisies
blooming in the garden
beside the house, arranged
them in a glass vase
sitting in the sunlight
on the kitchen windowsill.
