The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Draw for April 14, 2017
Active Influence: Fenris/The Devil
Rune: Hagalaz/Hail
Hidden Influence: Rym/Ten of Wands
All that work you did yesterday? Good job! Now keep going. Rym returns with further obligations and requirements that must be met. Fenris, brother of Jormundgand (yesterday’s Active Influence) brings difficulties and restrictions—many of them perhaps self-created.
Interruptions and disruptions abound today, and yet you must complete your Work and your work. Have faith in yourself, have courage in your actions, and you will make it through.
When everything seems against you, you must be on your own side.
A Normal Life
~ Marjory Heath Wentworth
Whatever that is.
I don’t pretend to know.
Don’t think I haven’t
tried to fold the socks
in neat pairs and stacked
the chipped blue rimmed bowls
and matching plates
inside the cupboard.
For years I have fed
the black and white dog
who barks whenever
the doorbell rings.
I filled the calendar
with important dates,
snipped daisies
blooming in the garden
beside the house, arranged
them in a glass vase
sitting in the sunlight
on the kitchen windowsill.

The Giants’ Tarot, Raven Kaldera
Draw for April 13, 2017
Active Influence: Jormundgand/The World
Rune: Ac/Oak (reversed)
Hidden Influence: Rym/Ten of Wands
Completion is required today, and it may require much more than you bargained for. The fact that the responsibility lies with you now (even if it was not yours to begin with, or properly belongs to someone else, but has landed on your shoulders) is inescapable, as is the need for completion.
While Angrboda’s rune, the strength of the oak, is showing reversed, take it to mean that, rather than you being uprooted, you have the strength to uproot people, processes, systems, and cultures as needed. Mother and Child (Angrboda is the mother of Jormundgand) work together to create the necessary change; perhaps you have someone who can help, but if not, be assured you have the resources you need to do this on your own.
Push, pull, tug, carry, tie, wrap, write a thousand words, balance accounts—whatever it takes, however long it takes, complete the work today, and sleep the sleep of the just tonight.
if you were born

if you were born
with the weakness to fall
you were born
with the strength to rise
