One Nice Thing

Many years ago, I was keeping a friend company while his wife was in labor. It was not going quickly, and she was frustrated with the situation and upset at herself for not being able to give birth faster.

At one point, she turned to him and said, “I’m tired. I don’t want to do this any more. I’m going to get up and get dressed. Take me home.” Which, of course, was not feasible, given the situation. The baby was born some hours later, by which time, she was so exhausted, all she could do was cry with relief that it was over.

I now personally understand what she meant. I’m tired. I don’t want to do this pandemic thing any more. And yet, it’s what’s happening, so here I am.

In an attempt to make this more tolerable for all of us, I will post One Nice Thing a few times a week to help lighten the day and provide a bit of respite. These will be tagged “One Nice Thing” to make them easy to find.

Enjoy!
