Bindrune for Protection and Courage in Uncertain Times

If you are new to working with bindrunes, I suggest you read the introductory bindrune post here, then return to this post to read about this specific bindrune. Remember that working with bindrunes, as with working with any kind of magic, does not carry guaranteed results, and may produce results quite different from what you expect.

Living in uncertain times can discourage us from taking risks, even ones that we know are likely to pay off in desired ways. And, well, is there anyone who hasn’t felt the times they live in are uncertain? Here are two versions of a bindrune to provide protection and guidance during uncertain times, whether the uncertainty is the result of external factors, or our own choice to make change in ourselves and our lives.

Protection in Uncertain Times Var 1 - Perthro Eihwaz Algiz

Bindrune for Protection in Uncertain Times Var 1 – Perthro Eihwaz Algiz

Perthro (left tile, purple in bindrune): The rune of chance, of change, of unknown and unpredictable possibilities. This is the toss of the dice, the chance you are taking.

Eihwaz (center tile, green in bindrune): The yew tree provides defense in multiple ways—as a means of shelter, as a bow to shoot arrows, as a subtle poison. The rune is also associated with Yggdrasil, enabling you to travel between the worlds and move forward in the right direction.

Algiz (right tile, brown in bindrune): The protection of the horns of the elk, and the cutting blades of the elk-sedge grass.  This rune creates a safe space for you to do your work, and to rest when you need to.  Algiz also provides the strength of the elk to energize you to keep going.

Protection in Uncertain Times Var 2 - Perthro Eihwaz Teiwaz

This second variation closes with Teiwaz (right tile, brown in bindrune) in place of Algiz. Teiwaz brings in the principles of truth and ethical conduct, guiding you in right behavior and strengthening your personal courage and commitment to those principles. Since you are invoking Tyr, be sure you are acting in an honorable manner and for the highest good to earn His blessing.

The bindrunes on the left were done in colored pencil. The ones on the right were done with fine point calligraphy markers. They are shown in two different media to give an idea of how the same bindrune looks different depending on how it is created.

You could put a drop of sage oil for clarity of purpose, or lavender for calm and courage. You could also use your favorite oil on it to reinforce the energy with your personal scent. You can also use a magical oil, such as a hoodoo oil or other type of specially prepared oil.

Use this bindrune—and all bindrunes—entirely at your own risk.
